The battle looked like it was going to be a good one but a streak of bad dice rolls for the vanilla marines lead to a pretty bad loss. Some of the general things I heard from the game was the fact that the vanilla marines couldn't even blow up an orc wartrukk. If you can't do that then sadly the Orcs will run all over you. Add that to a Emperor's champion running around with a squad of sword brethren and things start to fall apart quickly for the vanilla marines.
Eads, Mat, and Josh - please feel free to add any fun highlights from your battle to this post.

1.8.10 - Tyranids vs Space wolves
The battle seemed very one sided. The Tyranids were dominating through the entire battle. It was an annihilation game and because the Tyranids coud not blow up the Landraider they lost by kill points. A very surprising win for the space wolves.

Saturday 1.8.10 - Daemonhunters vs Blood Angels (2K)
Hello again everybody,
It was another fun round of battles this past Saturday with some fun moments.
I will start with the battle I played and start a couple other posts with some general information on the other 2 battles. Hopefully the participants of those battles can add more or clarify things.
I'm sorry I forgot my camera so I was not able to get photos to show how the battlefields changed. In the future if players have cameras they can bring and take their own photos as they go that would be optimum. Then you can just e-mail them to me on Sunday.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thomas' Daemonhunter army looked something like this.
Grandmaster in terminator armor with a 7 Terminator bodyguard all with nemesis force weapons, these were mounted in a Landraider Crusader.
5 man Terminator squad with Thunder Hammers and Stormshields mounted in a Standard landraider.
9 Grey Knights and a Witchhunter in a Rhino
1 Dreadnaught with Assault Cannon / DCCW
10 Stormtroopers.
1 Callidus Assassin
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chris and Fritz had the following army.
Sanguinor
10 Assault Marine Jump packers with SGT w/ power fist and 2 Meltaguns.
10 Assault Marine Jump packers with SGT w/ power fist and 2 Meltaguns
1 Sanguinary Priest with jump pack and lightning claw
1 Furioso Dreadnaught with blood talons & Drop Pod.
--------------
Mephiston
10 Assault Marine Jump packers with SGT w/ power fist and 1 Meltaguns.
10 Assault Marine Jump packers with SGT w/ power fist and 1 Meltaguns.
1 Sanguinary Priest with jump pack lightning claw
1 Furioso Librarian Dreadnaught & Drop Pod.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Our 2 1K lists actually fit together as 2K army so Thomas didn't really have to adjust anything for fighting multiple force organizations.
We played Annihilation.
Thomas rolled first to see who got first turn. He rolled a 2. He then asked me to roll against him (knowing well that I can't win a dice roll for first turn if his life depended on it). I passed the roll to Chris and in so doing Chris rolled a 3 and the Blood took the first turn. Thomas asked me to humor him and make the roll anyway. I did this and of course rolled a 1. It looks like my luck for first turn still holds solid. :)
1st turn Blood Angels.
The Librian dread dropped in right next to the line of armored vehicle to shoot a blood lance through a couple of the vehicles hopefully. Unfortunately I can't ever roll well when needed so the Blood Lance only went 8 inches (8 is all I could get rolling 4D6, of course!!) which was only enough to hit one of the Landraiders. Hitting is only half the battle and of course I rolled a 1 to see if it penetrated. That was a big fat nothing from the librarian dread. The other Furioso dropped on the opposite side of Thomas' battle line and hid behind his drop pod so as not to get shot at or charged by Thomas' dread. The rest of the Blood Angel Army just jumped ahead to hopefully get into the thick of it in the next turn.
1st turn Daemonhunters.
The Landraider that was the target of the librarian dreadnaughts lance move back a bit to shoot it's lascannons at the dread and the thunder hammer termies unloaded to finish it off if needed. The landraider succeeded in immobilizing the dreadnaught. The terminators charged in to finish off the dread. Instead they blew off one of the his arms and killed his drop pod in the same combat. The librarian dread killed one of the terminators in that combat. The Landraider crusader moved forward a bit to hopefully line up a decent charge or bait us closer to his orbital bombardment spot that would be coming possibly next turn. The Grey Knights unloaded from their rhino and shot at one of the 5 man combat squads killing 2. The Stormtroopers unloaded into the same squad killing a 3rd. The dreadnaught moved into assault range of the drop pod and blew it up with his assault cannon.
2nd turn Blood Angels.
Mephiston jumped forward and did a fleet move to get into charge range of the Grey Knight squad w/ witchhunter that unloaded from the rhino. The Furioso dreadnaught moved into charge range of the Rhino. One squad jumped into range to use his melta gun on Thomas' dreadnaught. The other squads moved forward to try to get into charge range of the command squad that was hiding in the land raider crusader and the others moved close enough to use their melta guns to blow it open. Another combat squad surged forward to try to take the stress off the Librarian Dreadnaught. The Furioso dreadnaught failed to blow up the rhino but did stun it. The meltagun in range of Thomas' dreadnaught Blew it up. Chris' Meltagun suceeded in blowing up the Land raider crusader and exposing the command squad. The command squad was charged by a combat squad and lost 1 terminator and they wiped out the combat squad in reply. The combat squad that charged in to help the librarian dread killed 1 or 2 but 4 of them were killed in the reply. The SGT fell back from that combat, leaving the Librarian dread still in tact. Mephiston killed 6 Grey Knights and took 1 wound from the remaining combatants. After their fearless reaction they were left with just 1 grey knight and the witchunter.
2nd turn Daemonhunters.
The surviving landraider moved to get a shot on the furioso dreadnaught munching on the rhino. The command squad surged forward to charge 2 different combat squads. The landraiderfurioso and the stormtroopers weren't able to do any damage to the approaching marines. The orbital bombardment did come this turn and scattered to kill 3 jump marines. The Callidus assassin came in and killed a couple with ther psyflamer. She charged the squad and killed all but the final marine who held his ground. The last 2 thunder hammer terminators failed to do anything but stun, stun, and stun the librarian dreadnaught. Mephiston finished off his last 2 opponents and moved toward the building with the stormtroopers. The command squad hit well though. They finished off one combat squad and killed 2 in another. They all broke from combat. leaving the Daemonhunter command squad in the middle of the table.
3rd turn Blood Angles.
The Sanguinor moved in to charge the Daemonhunter grandmaster. The Furioso dreadnaught moved in to assist in taking on the command squad. One of Chris' combat squads and sanguinary priest jumped in to help remove the last couple terminators on the librarian dreadnaught. Mephiston jumped into the building with the stormtroopers so he could get into combat with them in the assault phase to come. A 2 man squad with meltagun jumped up to get a shot on either the rhino or landraider, as another squad with 2 meltaguns lined up to shoot the same landraider. In the shooting phase the squad with 2 Meltaguns blew up the landraider, the squad with the single meltagun suceeded in finishing off the rhino. Everyone else who could took a shot at the Grey knight command squad and didn't accomplish killing them. In the assault phase Mephiston charged the stormtroopers, the combat squad and sanguinary priest charged the last to terminators attacking the librarian dreadnaught, the furioso dreadnaught charged the grey knight command squad along with the Sanguinor. Mephiston killed 5 stormtroopers and they didn't do any damage to him in reply. They failed their break test and were cut down in the combat resolution. The combat squad and sanguinary preist succeeded in killing the last 2 thunder hammer terminators saving the librarian dreadnaught from total destruction. The assassin finished off the last marine that was left in combat with her. The Sanguinor and furioso dreadnaught did about 6 wounds to the command squad but only 1 was not saved with a series of great 5+ invulnerable saves. The entire squad sent their attacks at the Sanguinor causing 5 wounds. On the 5 dice rolled by Chris 4 of them 1s and 2s killing off the Sanguinor. Unfortunately for the command squad they could do nothing to damage the front armor 13 of the Furioso dreadnaught just condeming them to slow death as the dreadnaught chewed through them.
By this time the whole daemonhunter army was dead except for 3 terminators and grandmaster stuck in an unwinable combat with the furioso dread and a callidus assassin. At this point the Blood angles had 9 points and a bunch of half dead combat squads running around. The daemonhunters had 6 points but no way to really cover the gap to get the rest.
In hind sight I feel I shouldn't have combat squaded assault squad so I could keep the number of kill points down. I also wished my librarian dreadnaught would have blown up one of the vehicles. I also had to be a bit more careful with Mephiston because of all the STR 6 nemisis force weapons.
Thomas seemed to have poor luck with dice rolls on everything except for invulnerable saves.
All in all it was a fun game and I look forward to the daemonhunter revamp coming in April.

Our New Gaming Blog!
Hello All,
I started a blog to keep track of some of our battles. I am hoping to bring a camera to our gaming nights so we can have some photos to go along with the battle reports. The only thing I will need from the players is a moment after each game turn to note what each side did, and where the game stands as far as the objective goes. I am sure there will be a few hiccups in the beginning but hopefully overall we will have a good history of games we play together to read back through for all of our enjoyment.
See you on the field of battle!
